Matt Wehner

Matt Wehner is the co-owner and driving force behind one of the region’s most respected cabinet and design companies. Their shared background as college athletes instilled in them a strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and team-first mindset that has shaped their approach to business and leadership.

Matt Wehner holds a Mathematics degree from Missouri Southern and began his career teaching high school algebra while coaching football and wrestling. He later transitioned into finance with Edward Jones, helping clients manage their investments. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to a local company with the intent to purchase the business, but when that opportunity didn’t materialize, he and Shelley sought out a new venture—ultimately acquiring the cabinet shop.

Matt initially ran day-to-day operations and has served as Director of Operations and CFO. He was instrumental in research and development, investing in state-of-the-art equipment and technology that modernized and scaled the business. Today, Matt serves as the company’s CFO and visionary, guiding long-term strategy and innovation.

Under Matt and his wife, Shelley's leadership, Concepts by Design has earned notable recognition, including winning the  Small Business Award in 2022  and being featured in the  Springfield Business Journal  for producing one of the  “Coolest Things Made in the Ozarks.” These honors highlight their commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and excellence in serving their community.
