Shelley Wehner

Co-owner at Concepts by Design

Shelley is a co-owner and driving force behind one of the region’s most respected cabinet and design companies. Their shared background as college athletes instilled in them a strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and team-first mindset that has shaped their approach to business and leadership.

Shelley Wehner graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Printing Management and a minor in Business. She began her career in commercial print sales, where she spent seven years building strong client relationships. After taking time to raise their young children, Shelley and Matt purchased a small, four-person cabinet shop. Today, they’ve grown the business to nearly 52 employees.

Shelley’s early roles in sales and design laid the foundation for her current leadership as Director of Sales and Design. She manages a self-sufficient design team of seven, helped develop the company’s closet division, and trained staff in both sales and design. Shelley also oversees production scheduling and has led the company’s marketing efforts for the past 18 years. Her exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills earned her recognition as one of  417 Magazine’s Women Who Mean Business in 2019. She also served a term on the board of the Home Builders Association of Springfield.

Under Shelley and her husband Matt’s leadership, Concepts by Design has earned notable recognition, including winning the  Small Business Award in 2022  and being featured in the  Springfield Business Journal  for producing one of the  “Coolest Things Made in the Ozarks.” These honors highlight their commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and excellence in serving their community.

Together, Shelley and Matt bring complementary strengths to their business—balancing creativity and operations, vision and execution, and a shared commitment to excellence in service and craftsmanship.
