Terry Steffey
Terry Steffey is a self-taught cabinet maker and designer who has worked with homeowners, architects, and designers working for nearly 36 years. Steffey’s small shop handles design, build, finishing, and installation.
He attended the University of Michigan, pursuing a degree in architecture because he wanted to design/build custom residential homes. After several semesters, Steffey realized he preferred to work with his hands. He continued with design classes, got a builder’s license, and started a design/build business. After completing his first set of cabinets, he found his niche and has been building custom cabinets ever since.
Active in his community, Terry serves on the local Planning Commission and Downtown Development Authority (DDA) as well as the Fenton Community Center Board of Directors. Steffey has been an active member of the CMA for six years and is enthusiastic about its educational opportunities and the camaraderie between fellow cabinet makers. Dibbleville Woodworks has won seven CMA Wood Diamond Awards and is also an active member of Michigan’s chapter of the National Kitchen &Bath Association.
Steffey says the biggest issue facing his business right now is downsizing and setting up a new shop. For the general membership, he believes supply chain issues and the shortage of good labor will continue to be the biggest hurdles.
