Saúl Martín

Education Technical Manager at Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI)

Saúl Martín’s passion for woodworking at a young age led him to earn a degree in Cabinetmaking and Millwork at Los Angeles Trade Technical College (California). He joined the AWI team in January 2024 as Education Technical Director, set to drive development of AWI’s technical education and training programs aimed at helping AWI member companies and the industry in improving their manufacturing processes through education.

Prior to AWI, Saúl was at Architectural Woodworking Company, a high-end commercial millwork firm in Los Angeles, for over 30 years, where he was ultimately appointed as VP of Manufacturing. His commitment to the woodworking industry has led him to involvement with the student organization SkillsUSA at the local, state (California), and national levels. He is currently the Contest Coordinator for Cabinetmaking and Introductory Woodworking for SkillsUSA California.

Saúl was recognized as “Industry Person of the Year” in 2014 by the Los Angeles area California Industrial and Technology Education Association (LACITEA), and in 2020 by the statewide CITEA organization. He is the founding and current Board Chair of Society of Wood Manufacturers (SWM), a Chapter of AWFS (Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers) focused on industry education and workforce development.
